Congratulations to Holocaust Survivor and his Wife Celebrating 74 years of Marriage!
Earlier this month, Holocaust survivor Joe Rubinstein and his wife Irene celebrated Joe's 101st birthday with a toast. Today, Joe and Irene are celebrating 74 years together! Theirs is a beautiful, profound, and surprising love story. Joe met Irene shortly after the war in Germany of all places. Joe (from Radom, Poland) was Jewish, and Irene was Catholic. Joe had spent nearly six years of his life imprisoned in some of the most notorious concentration camps, including over two and a half years at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Irene, whose family was Polish like Joe’s, had been raised in Germany. Together, they would leave the ashes of their past behind them as they carved a new beginning in the United States. With Irene by his side, Joe would become one of the leading shoe designers in New York and the world. Joe says often, “If it weren’t for Irene, I would have been six feet under a long time ago.” To learn more about Joe and Irene's remarkable story and romance, check out: Auschwitz #34207 - The Joe Rubinstein Story: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRZ40B2/
